Been looking forward to this for a long, long time. '83 GL (power windows + tan interior bits was what was needed there), one owner ~180k miles. Of course its a manual, but the engine/transmission will be exiting the car post haste. Happy to have the factory 3rd pedal though!
Big plans for this car, v8 swap (Ford 302), interior swap (stated desire is a late model BMW dash/seats, etc) and full rethinking of suspension, brakes, etc. My vision is to make this thing a comfortable daily driver that will rip around the track and autox. After 'doing it on the cheap' and surfing yards for random parts to put on my LeMons racer for the last 6 years, looking forward to a new challenge. I realize this is a massively ambitious project - but I think it will be worth it!
I have about 2 months of planning ahead of me before digging into it; and this car will have its own blog with all the research and the build documented. Thinking it will take the better part of a year to get through it all.
Stay tuned......

The Volvos that run directory that details the 302 swap will is the reason I am choosing a ford platform over a sbc. Amazing documentation and pinouts!

Thanks for the offer to help! I am most concerned with the AC conversion. I have redone 240's AC's in the past and would prefer to switch it all over to an electric AC control from the vac and hard line based controls. I am no good at brasing copper lines (the AC control on this is a hard copper pipe inline with refridgerant) so let me know if you have an exhaustive diagram that indicated flows. It would help me find donor parts on other platforms I can use without having to do much of the flow testing.

Rims will be for sale - ordering Pegasus with the offset corrections from IPD when they replenish in June.

sure thing buddy, I think for that i'll have to go into "the dungeon". A little room where the old books are for the older cars. I'll hunt it down and let ya know because on our VIDA that section has been removed. I'll take a look a little later :]

Hooray! Another brick lover! Congrats!
Sounds like an awesome project. I always wanted to do a V8 swap in a Volvo wagon.

Hey I'm happy that you were able to get a silver Foz- they're great cars ;)

lol. I do love my foz. It towed the volvo home! (Class 3 hitch, upgraded brakes, surface streets only)

what kind of brakes did you go with?
2" hitch?

I put stoptech pads, rotors, and SS lines from the same year impreza; bolted right up. The wife thinks it is too much brake for that car!
The hitch is a 2" Class III from Draw-tite. I have carried a washer and dryer on a tray on that hitch - it is a great product and fits very, very nicely for a clean look.

Awesome! We also have a Draw-Tite hitch on ours. Haven't used it yet, but I plan on buying a small trailer and using it to get a washer/dryer home from wherever and also bringing lumber from Home Depot to build a deck and fence. I'm not sure about the brakes though- my wife drives the Foz more than I do and they're fine for the driving we do, but once they go I'm going to go for some pads with more bite :)

I recommend Harbor Fright's trailers for light utility work. The fact they fold up makes storage MUCH easier.
